Before the clock strikes 12

As of this writing the sound of firecrackers and fireworks is exploding in the air. I still have outfit photos left unposted which were taken last week so I better post them now, before 2011 comes to a close.

These photos were taken last Christmas eve and Christmas day:

cardigan - Okasyon, shirt - a family raffle prize,
jeans - divi, Chucks - Converse

I wanted to be casual and comfortable since we just spend Christmas eve and the early Christmas morning at home, but I also wanted to add some drama, hence the overly long pink cardigan.

This, on the other hand, was what I wore during Christmas day. Still keeping the laid-back vibe since we didn't even have to go out of the house.

maxi dress - tiangge, denim blouse - thrifted, sandals - my mom's

In less than an hour it'll be 2012 and it has just gotten a lot louder! I thank God for all the blessings he showered upon me and all my loved ones this 2011, and for continuing to do so. Have a happy, healthy, and prosperous new year everyone!

* a big thank you to my cousin Denise for taking all these photos

The Wedding

The other day, my cousin finally married the girl of his dreams. It was such a momentous event and I couldn't be any happier for the both of them.

I know I make it sound like a big deal, but it is a big deal because a) I haven't attended a wedding in over ten years and b) it's the first wedding of our generation. Of course questions regarding our own "big day" have also started. All I've got to say is that it's still too early to answer those kinds of questions. :D

It was a really, really special event and I took it as an opportunity to get all dolled-up. As I mentioned before, even though I'm not really a part of the entourage, I wanted to have a dress sewn especially for the wedding. I wanted a one-shoulder dress at the beginning but all it took was one look at a picture of a 50's Sabrina style dress to change my mind.

dress - custom-made, shoes - folded & hung

I was the one who bought and chose the fabric myself (well, with the help of my younger cousin). Believe it or not, I just bought it at the wet market near our house. I chose a black and white polka-dotted fabric at first but my mom was against me wearing a somber color on a wedding. When I went fabric shopping once again I found this lovely floral printed cotton cloth. It made me a bit nostalgic since I remember having a dress with this kind of floral print when I was a kid.

Since the dress was relatively simple and rendered me a bit childlike, I chose a pair of shoes that contradicted all that. I swear, the answer to a rather simple outfit is a pair of fierce heels. :D

Street Smart

On one particularly sunny day, I decided to wear a denim jacket and a pair of black tights.

I also wore my first ever pair of Chucks and a flipped white shirt. I often flip my shirts backwards when I find the neckline too simple or too low. All the drama goes to the back, and isn't that more mysterious?

denim jacket - Market Market, white shirt - Jockey, necklace - a gift: Papemelroti, shorts - random tiangge, Chucks - Converse

Here's a shout out to an amazing boyfriend for patiently taking my photos under the heat of the sun. The photos, by the way, were all taken and edited with his iPod Touch. Coolness!

Oldies Party

My mother asked me and my boyfriend to tag along at her association’s Christmas party last week. I think my boyfriend and I were actually the youngest people there but we still enjoyed the night since it was amusing to watch “adults” play games and be silly. Plus the food was great, and I even won a free tour and overnight stay in Corregidor in their raffle.

The people behind the event asked the attendees to wear something sparkly or shimmery but since I don’t really have something like that in my closet, I settled for the closest I can find. It doesn’t register much in the photos but this blouse actually has teeny tiny flecks of glitter. I’m not even sure if this is a blouse or a skirt, but it’s more interesting as a blouse. I also wore my overused gold flats since in some way they were also shimmery. Maipilit lang, ha ha.

The blazer I’m wearing here is actually a blazer that comes with my office uniform. I came straight from work and needed a cover up so the blazer sufficed. The blazer looks more casual when the sleeves are scrunched up like this (I think I’m the only one who scrunches up the office blazer’s sleeves like this).

Paparazzi shot kuno, ha ha

Thanks to my lovely boyfriend for taking my pictures. I had to take his picture, too.
